Owens, of Kanieri. returned yesterday from CJiristchurch. Major C. W. Fitzgerald and Mrs Fitzgerald left yesterday on return to Christchurch. Mrs S. Haines is a patient in the Grey River Hospital and her condition i s satisfactory. The death has been reported from London of the Naval writer Heaton Bywater at th e age of 56 years.

Mr and Mrs R. E. Bonisch of Wellington are at present visiting relations in Greymouth.

Mr J. Pender, Runanga, i s a patient at the Christchurch Hospital.

Miss D. Willis, who is a patient at the Grey River Hospital is making satisfactory progress.

A New York cablegram announced ihe death of Mr. Waiter P. Chrysler, the motor car manufacturer, from cerebal haemorrhage.

Mr A. Hogan arrived yesterday from Hillside Workshops, Dunedin, to join the staff of the Railway Workshops, Greymouth.

Mrs E. Callaghan who has been visiting relatives in Greymouth leaves on return to Wellington this morning. Mrs Scott, Palmerston North, arrived yesterday on a visit to her sisters. Mesdames A. H. McKane and R. W. Stewart. The Right Rev. P. W- Stephenson, Bishop-elect of Nelson is to arrive in New Zealand from Sydney early in November.
