AWATUNA NOTES

A most successful social evening, organised by the teacher and children of the Awatuna School, was enjoyed by ail at the Stafford Hall last Saturday evening. The function commenced with a concert by the children, the following being the items: Song (Roma Rasmussen); recitation (John Srhoy); piayette, “The Missing Doll”; recitation, by junior children; song, Pam Clark, Nat and Mary Steele; piayette, “The Triplets”; songs, “Girls in Blue,” “Zuyder Zee,” “The Ship I Love,” “Jingle Bells”; recitation, Malcolm Dalkie; songs, “Boomps-a-Daisy” and “Run, Rabbit, Run”; recitation Mara Srhoy; piayette,' “Army Boys on Parade”; recitation, senior girls; song, Malcolm Dalkie, “Wings Over the Navy”; piayette, “The Fugitive”; recitation, E. Weaver; songs, “Sergeant Major,” “Good Luck and the Same to You,' “The Army, Navy and Air Force”’ recitation, N. Barrett. After the concert, cards were played by some, while a pleasant dance was enjoyed by others, delightful music being supplied by Misses J. CUnning, I. Morris, and M. Runciman, Mesdames Clark and Dalkie. and Messrs McDonald and Peaifce. A sumptuous supper was supplied by the ladies of the district. The teacher thanked all for their co-operation in making a su'ccess of the evening, by which £ll 15s Id was netted towards the Patriotic Fund. The evening was brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and “God Save the King.”
