Miss Ngaire Harcourt, of Hampden Street, leaves next week to take up an appointment in the Post and Telegraph Department at Wellington. The usual monthly meeting of the Kokatahi Women’s Institute was held on Thursday, August 1, Mrs O’Reilly presiding over a very good attendance. A large amount of correspondence was read and received. The leading of the life of Florence Nightingale was enjoyed by all. Garments for the refugees were handed in and arrangements were made for the Snake Gully ball to be held on August 21st for the Patriotic funds. Competitions resulted as follows: — Biscuits, Mrs Kelly 1, Mrs O’Reilly 2, Mrs Hall 3. Serviette, Mrs Monk 1, Mrs Wrobleski 2, Mrs Kemp 3. Coat hanger, Miss O’Neill 1, Mrs Woolhouse 2, Mrs Wrobleski 3. Recent visitors at Hotel Westland have included: Messrs G. W. H. Hilderbraunt, G. H. Noble, W. Grady (Nelson); G. Markby, A. E. Markby (Christchurch); B. Bruce (South America); J'. McKorkindale (Duneuin); D. M. Perry (Sydney); R. M. Curry (Nelson); J. Moorehousa (Christchurch); R. Styles, W. Miller (Nelson); P. Bankier (Christchurch); Mr and Mrs A. D. Lambourne (Auckland); I. L. Uran (Christchurch); G. E,. Chapman (Auckland); I. S. Bantown (Wellington); B. Mussack, R,. Hansel (Palmerston North); H. M. Fierson (Wellington); H. W. Mclntosh (Christchurch); J. B. Woolley (Wellington); U. C. Kelley (Christchurch); R. W. Basler (Switzerland); G. P. Oates (Tokomaru Bay). Senior football matches here tomorrow afternoon will be between the senior champions of the Grey and Westland competitions, the Cobden and Kiwi teams. The curtain raiser, commencing at 1.30 p.m., will be between the third grade representatives’ of Grey and Westland. Cobden seniors are:—Lindbdm, Groufsky, Henderson, Vaughan (2), Collins, Kiely, Pike, Lake, Kirkwood, Moss, Birchfield, King (2), Laredo, Watkin, McLaughlan, Manning, Manttan. The Kiwi team will be selected from the following:—H. Mason, R. Burns, J. McLean, W. Patrick, F. Jordan, T. Sproule, R. Roberts, J. West, P. Hurreh, W. Panton, L. Harris, H. Pierson, A. Mandeno, C. Haddock, Roberts, F. McHarg, J. Holloway, D. Chimb and D. Adams. Excelsior seniors to play Kokatahi at Kokatahi to-morrow are:—Kulsen, Pedder, Gflowcotf, Johnson, L.> ’ Parker, Brown, J. Parker, Hewlett Tainui, Keenan, Dwyer, Turner, Schroder, Bradley, Harvey, Howat, Staines. To meet at Central Hotel at 1.30 p.m. sharp.
