TAXES BY INSTALMENT

Compulsory Collection AUSTRALIAN PLAN. SYDNEY, August 2, The “Herald’s” Brisbane correspondent says: The Federal Treasurer (Mr. Spender) has decided to introduce a compulsory system of collecting Federal taxation by instalments at the source, on similar lines to that which has been adopted in Britain.

Mr, Spender decided to take this action in order to ease the burden that must fall on all classes of taxpayers, as a result of the huge increases that have already been made in taxation, and others that must inevitably follow. It is understood that the new scheme will be introduced at the beginning of next year, and that u scheme will be evolved to deduct, monthly, one-twelfth of the estimated annual tax of the taxpayer.
