LEAGUE FOOTBALL

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEET. At last night’s meeting of the Management Committee of the West Coast Rugby League, Mr. P. Blanchfield (President) was in the chair, other members present being Messrs H. Bassett, B. Ramsay, C. Morel, J. J. Anisy, A. A. Fielding, A. Kyle, W. Hopkins, L. Hunter, P. Sweetman (Junior Advisory Board), J. Stokes, and W. Moore (secretary). The Kumara Club wrote stating that they had withdrawn their junior team from the competition, owing to an unsatisfactory arrangement of fixtures and to the enlisting of their players. The secretary said lie had written, asking the club to reconsider their decision. /

Mr. Morel said that when the Greymouth team went to Kumara they had to wait som e time for Kumara to field a team. Mr. Kyle said that the club had taken a wrong attitude in blaming the Fixtures Committee.

Mr. Stokes suggested Kumara be sent a chart of their past fixtures, pointing out that as many games had been fixed for Kumara at home as away.

The chairman suggested the committee meet the club at Kumara on Sunday.

Mr. Stokes said if th e club were still playing a school.-boy team 1L would be as well if the executive committee of the club were met. It was decided to meet the Kumara executive committee during the next week-end.

The Canterbury League wrot e to state that the proposed match between the West Coast and Canterbury was a representative one, and not a challenge for the Northern Union Cup. It was decided to play Canterbury on September 8 al Wingham Park.

The New Zealand Council wrote stating that the North Island v. South Island game was not to be played this season, and suggesting that an Auckland team play the rest of New Zealand at Auckland. The council asked the committee to nominate four players for selection in the rest of New Zealand team.. The chairman said the scheme was commendable, but was one that might not give satisfaction. -

It was decided to advise the council that the committee would like to see the North Island-South Island game played, but were willing to fall in with the idea owing to the present conditions.
