REEFTON NOTES

REEFTON, July 29.

The wedding was celebrated at the Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, of June, only daughter of Mr and. Mrs J. S. Barnett, of Reefton, and Thomas, second son of Mr G. Brazil, Cronadun. Rev. Father O’Brien officiated. The bride, who was escorted by her uncle Mr C. Barnett, wore a navy costume with hat to matchy and was attended by Miss Patricia Brazil (sister of the bridegroom) as bridesmaid, attired in a navy costume. Mr Paul Brazil was best man. At the conclusion of the ceremony Hie guests were entertained at the wedding breakfast at the residence ox the bride's parents, and later the young coupie left on their honeymoon in Christchurch, carrying with them the best wishes of their many friends for their future welfare and happiness. Reefton and district has been favoured with fine weather for some days past, the sun shining brightly each afternoon. The temperature has, however, been fairly severe, with heavy frosts each morning. Y esterday thirteen degrees of frost were registered and this morning fourteen degrees.

Miss M. Buckland, of Palmerston North, is spending her holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs Buckland, Cronadun.

Mr Richardson, formerly deputy Manager of the Brunner Mine, has been appointed Manager of the Burnwell Coal Mine at Reefton, and has arrived here. It is understood that trials made in Christchurch with the Burnwell coal for the production of gas for motive power on motor lorries have shown it to be the very best yet tried, and further experiments are to be continued, the results of which will be awaited with more than ordinary interest by local coal miners.

Messrs J. B. Auld (chairman), J. D. Clark, F. W. Archer, and W. Clayton members of the Inangahua Hospital Board, left for Greymouth this mornmg and meet members of the other West Coast Boarus in conference on Hospital Boaru matters.
