In South of England

(Received July 30, 1.14 a.m.). LONDON, July 29

One German raider was shot down over the sea in flames, and several others are believed to have been crippled in a sharp air battle over the south-east of England this (Monday) morning. A large number of planes participated in the battle. It alternated between the land and the sea. It was fought at a great height. A' raiding plane dropped a number of incendiary bombs on a mid-land English town during Sunday night. One bomb fell in a bedroom wherein three children were sleeping, causing a fire, which was quickly extinguished.
