NEARLY £2,000,000. WELLINGTON, April 16. The gross, proceeds of the March appraisement of wool in Wellington, in which the whole offering of 17,551 bales was sold, were £304,083. This brings the total gross proceeds of the four appraisements made in Wellington this season up to £1,953,849, compared with £1,423,799 for the four auction sales held in 1938-39, an increase of £530,050.* The official return for the March appraisement, supplied by the Wellington Wool Brokers’ Association, is as follows: — Offered, bales . . 17,551 Sold, bales 17,5511 Net weight, lb 6,281,154. AUCKLAND CHEQUE. AUCKLAND, April 15. The wool cheque for the Auckland Province this season totalled £1,375,086, a figure which has been exceeded only once in recent years. This is the fourth year in succession that the realisation has topped the £1,000,000 mark, the distribution last season, being. £1,061,743. The record of £1,528,545 was established in 1936-37.
