WEDDING
SMITH—HESLIN. The marriage took place at St. Patrick’s Church, Greymouth, on Saturday morning, of Patricia Helen, second daughter of the late-Mr and 'Mrs F. Heslin, Dunollie, and Maxwell Kenneth, youngest son of Mr and Mrs J. J. Smith, Lower Hutt, /Veilington. Rev. Father A.. C. Gregory officiated and Miss M. McSherry was at the organ. Miss Gladys Saunders sang the solos “A Little Prayer, and “Ave Maria.” The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr F. Heslin, wore a gown of duchess satin, in deep magnolia. The diagonally draped bodice was caught at one side of the cowl neck-line with a cluster of orange blossom, and completed with full length sleeves, smartly pointed to form a diamond shape over the wrists. Moulding her figure, the skirt fell into soft folds at the back, forming a long sweeping train, while the hemline was softly edged with velvet primroses to tone with the frock. Her long embroidered veil of parchment tulle, which was worn over her face, was caught to her head with a flat diamond shaped tiara, prettily embroidered with tiny pearls, and she carried a sheaf of begonias, freesias, and maidenhair fern. The bride was accompanied by two bridesmaids, Misses Molly and Tess Anderson, wearing period frocks, fully flared, of shell pink taffeta with overskirts of pale pink self-striped organdie. The tight-fitting little jacket bodices were in silk ring velvet to tone, and finished with French buttons from neckline to waist. Their headdress was a charming type of the bustle, in pale pink organdie, and they carried sheafs of pale pink belladonna lilies and maidenhair fern. Little Gloria Heslin (niece of the bride) wore a frock on miniature lines of the bridesmaids’. Her crinoline hat was of pink net and velvet flowers, and she . carried a silver basket of pink carnations and bouvefrdia. Mr E. V. Kerridge was best man, and Mr G. Heslin, brother of the bride, was groomsman.
The reception was held at Herb. Moore’s, the hostess being Mrs W. Murphy aunt of the bride, who wore a navy pin-striped costume, with navy accessories, a squirrel stole and shoulder spray of begonias. She was assisted by Mrs G. Heslin, sister-in-law of the bride, who wore a frock of Air Force blue, with navy accessories, and a cluster of violets. Mr and Mrs M. K. Smith left by rail car later for the North Island, the bride travelling in a: grey pinstriped costume, navy accessories’ and a silver fox fur.
