“VOTE OF CONFIDENCE”
Majority of Chamber REFUSE TO VOTE. (Received March 20, 9.45 p.m.) PARIS, March 20. The Chamebr of Deputies has passed a vote of confidence in the Prime Minister, M. Daladier, by 239 votes to one. There were 300 abstentions from voting. The Chamber resumed its public sitting at 3.30 o'clock this morning, after having sat five hours in secret session. A Radical Socialist Party motion was tabled on resuming publicity, azpressing confidence in the Government’s capacity to carry on the war to a successful issue. The 1 voting means that a majority of the Chamber abstained from the division, but the Government has, nc;t resigned. ■ ■■-. j The Council of Ministers was summoned this morning at 11 a.m. ONE ABSENTEE MINISTER. (Received March 20, 11.40 p.m.) LONDON, March 20. The French Minister of Posts and Telegraphs, M. Jules Julien who is at present in London, was the only member of the French Cabinet who did not go to the Palais d’Elysee for the resignation of Cabinet. RESIGNATION ACCEPTED. (Received March 20, 11 p.m.) LONDON, March 20. A message from Paris reports that President Lebrun has accepted M. Daladier’s resignation.
