Matson and Coy. re Vl Store S sheep V -There was a smaller yarding of 16,000 head. It proved a slack sale for lambs, all classes being 6d to Is al head easier. Medium lambs fetched 12s to 14s. There was a depressing sale for adult sheep AU classes were easier, especially finer wools. Best romney two tooths sold to 345; and fine wool two tooths from Ils 6d to 21s. All 4-year-olds were back Is 6d to 2s a head, with a slackening demand due to dry conditions Fat lambs.—The entry was 1250. The quality was poor. It was a lifeless sale in all classes, with lambs 1/below schedule. Fat sheep.—The entry was 5000. It proved too much for requirements. There was a fair demand for good ewes, and wethers, but values were from’ par to Is a head easier. It was an erratic sale, with litle buying by the freezing coys. Best ewes sold to 27s Id, and best wethers to 34s lOd. Fat cattle.—The entry was 385, of medium quality. The sale opened draggingly, with values at par for the best bodies, but weaker Apr other classes. It was an erratic sale. Best beef sold to 38s per 100 lbs. Extra prime heavy steers fetched £l9 12s 6d, prime heavy steers £l3 5s to £l5 10s, prime medium steers £ll 10s to £l3 ss; ordinary steers £8 to £11; light steers £7 10s; extra prime heifers to £ll 7s 6d; prime heifers £8 10s? to £9 15s; medium heifers £6 15s to £8 ss; light heifers to £6 10s; extra prime cows to £ll 12s 6d ; prime cows £7 to £9; medium cows £5 5s to £6 10s; light cows to £5. Vealers. —The quality was very poor. An easier sale resulted. Best runners sold to £6 8s 6d. Store cattle. —There was nothing ,to quote. Fat pigs.—There was a small entry. Pork values improved by 2s to 3s a head, rising further as the sale progressed. Baconers. —There was a large entry. A keen sale resulted. Values were at par. Light pork fetched 42s 6d to 495. 6d, medium pork 52s 6d to 58s 6d, heavy pork £3 Is 6d to £3 7s 6d, the price per lb. being 7d to 7Sd. Light bacon sold from 59s 6d to £3 9s 6d; medium bacon £3 12s 6d to £3 17s 6d; heavy bacon £3 19s 6d to £4 13s 6d, the price’ per lb. being 61d to 7d.

Store pigs.—There was a small entry. A good sale resulted for larger class pigs. Values were firm- on last week. Weaners fetched 6s to 14s; ■and stores 23s to 425.
