GOLF

GREY SEASON OPENS. The Greymouth Golf Club experienced favourable conditions for the official opening of its 1940 season, at the Kaiata links, and there was fan attendance of about 100 members and visitors. The president of the Club, (Mr W. Meldrum), in declaring tne season open, wished all members a successful and happy year. -He then hit off the first ball. A mixed foursome was played over 12 holes during the afterncn, and was won by Mrs K. McCarthy and W. G. McKay, with a nett score of 44.
