WEDDING
A popular wedding was solemnised on Saturday at the Church of Christ, Greymouth, when Mavis Christina, only daughter of Mr and Mrs R. V. Carruthers, High Street, was married to Thomas Henry, fourth son of Mrs E. Best, Herbert Street, Greymouth. Pastor R. A. Blampied officiated and Mr W. Best, brother of the bridegroom, was at the orgr.ri. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming gown o, ivory Brussels lace, over duchess satin of a deeper shade, the bodice beln-, cut with a corsage in front and neckline in heartshape design finished with narrow pleated tulle. Tiny satin buttons finished the back, the long full skirt falling into a train. Her richly embroidered veil, of ivory tulle (which had been worn by her mother) was arranged from a spray of velvet begonias. She carried a jheaf of Easter lilies, roses, and cactus dahlias. The bridesmaid, Miss Rona Green, of Auckland, wore a dainty frock of rose pink silk net over taffeta, the neckline and pull sleeves being finished with small velvet flowers and the waist-line being defined by a wide tieover sash. She wore a shoulder veil of pink tulle falling from a halo of velvet flowers and carried a posy of asters, pink abutilbns and maidenhair fern. Mr J. Best, brother of the bridegroom, carried out the duties of best man, and Messrs J. and R. Carruthers, brothers of the bride, were ushers.
The reception was held at Harker’s Tea .Rooms, where the guests were received by the bride’s mother, assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, the former wearing a navy and white frock, navy edge to edge coat, hat and other accessories to tone, and a shoulder spray of ruby abulions. The latter wore a brown floral' frock, brown coat, accessories to tone and shoulder spray of bronze flowers. Mr and Mrs T. H. Best left .later on their honeymoon, the bride travailing in a tailored costume of teal blue with black peach bloom ha.t and black accessories.
