GENERAL ELECTIONS
IN VICTORIA To-day’s Prospects (Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.J (Received March 15, 11 p.m.) MELBOURNE, March 15. After a vigorous State election, campaign, in which the candidates have been unable to whip up much public interest in State politics, the Victorian General Election takes place to-morrow for sixty-five seats in the Legislative Assembly. As ■ the State Parliaments exert little influence in the conduct of the war effort, the issues involved are regarded publicly as being of minor interest. The causes of the election, namely, the question of outside interference with Cabinet by Country Party members, apparently make no appeal. The indications are that the present regime, a Country Party Government, kept in office with Labour Party support, is likely continue. This alliance can lose nine seats and still have a working majority. The voting for many seats will be closed. In some the results will not be known for some days, depending on the allotment of preferences.
