IKAMATUA CLUB. Hie Ikamatua Golf Club's annual meeting will be held on Wednesday next, when (he President, Mr. j. Green, will submit the following' an nual report:— It is my pleasant duty to present a report that is highiv satisfactory in every detaii. I congratulate the members of the club, *whose enthusiasm has made the last four seasons so successful, and it is my earnest wish that the coming season will place the Club in a still stronger position. Our special thanks are duo to Mr. and Mrs. W. O’Malley and family, for their generosity in placing at our disposal the land on which the links are situated. A most enjoyable and successful season was auspiciously opened in the presence of a large number of members and visitors from Waitahu, Greymouth, and Totara Fiat Clubs. Proof of the popularity of golf in the district was given in an increase of membership, which at the conclusion of the season was: Ladies, 22; Men, 4.6. We were unfortunate, however, in losing some of our most prominent members, who have left, the- district. I refer to Mr. J. R. Jones, a foundation member, and Mr. McGifford, both of the executive Com-1 mittee. I extend the Club’s thanks to I these members for ail they did to-| ward advancing the game at Ikamatua. As in previous seasons, visits were paid to Greymouth, Waitahu and Totara Flat Clubs, all of which were returned and proved some of the happiest games of the year. The finals of the championships wZfiessed some very good golf, the winners in each grade deserving their titles through sound play from the beginning of the season.. The Ladies’ Senior was won by Miss T. McVicar; Junior: Miss R. Cuff: Knock-out Cup, Mrs- D. S. Nicholson. In the men’s (division the Senior was won by Mr. . B. Hempseed; Junior, Mr. A. Sheldon; Knock-out, Mr. B. Hempseed; Mirfin Cup, Mr. D. S. Nicholson. The purchase of motor-mower,"tank, manure, 'seed, top-derssing and painting the pavilion was a heavy drain on the club funds, but, in spite of the expenditure, the balance-sheet is high!; satisfactory. We are grateful to Mr. A. Shsldon for the condition in which he kept the greens during play, and the interest he showed in them d”>';ing the off season. His efforts were greatly appreciated by members. The annual ball was again an outstanding success, proving one of the most successful held in the district, both ■from a social, and financial point of view. The bazaar held in co-opera-tion w'th the Tennis Club proved very successful, the Club fund being greatly augmented, due to the good work by members of both cllibs. I wish t I. express the Club’s deepest apprec’a--1 tion of the manner in which the (ladies handled the catering air-ngv-ments. I wish to thank the secretary, Mr. L. O’Malley, for his efforts, Club
Captain. Mr. S. Brand; ’adies’ secre tary, Mrs. Pfahkrt; ladies” Captain Miss T. McVicar, and all. c/ffice,-beav-ers of the Club for the’r unfailing energy and interest, which proved such factors in making last season so successful. I sincerely hope that th coming season will be oven more prosperous than ever.
