Woman Injured TARANAKI OUTRAGE ! NEW PLYMOUTH. February 13. An attack upon Mrs R. F. Thrush, of Eltham, while she was sleeping in a bach at Ohawe, early on Monday morning, is being investigated by the police. After inflict’ng a blow across her forehead, with a blunt instrument, which caused a fracture of the skull and severe concussion, the intruder disappeared before -the other members of the household were awakend by the calls of Mrs Thrush. The disappearance of a quantity ot jewel lerv, watches and money suggests that theft-was the motive of the intruder. Miss G. Bernard, of Hawcra, were sleeping at the other end. Mrs Thrush was struck on the head with what, it is believed was a blunt instrument. She called to her companions for help. Mrs Knuckey and Miss Bernard saw no sign of the intruder, who apparent!.- made a rapid exit. Blood was pouring from the wound on Mrs Thrush’s forehead. Mrs Thrush was later admitted to a private hospital, where she was reported to be in an improved condition.
