WEDDING

GARLICK—KNOWLES. St Patrick’s Church, Greymouth, w-s the scene of a very pretty weddii on Tuesday morning, when Vi .fenne Cecilia, only daughter of Mr and Mrs T. Knowles, of Greymouth, was married to James, young est * son of Mr and Mrs Garlick, of Oxford, North Canterbury. The ?^ ei ? o c y was performed by Rev. Father A. . Gregory who also celebrated Nuptial Mass. Miss Moira McSherry, L.T.C.L. was at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by ner father wore a long trained gown of parchment satin, with a quilted panel extending from neck to hem, the quilting being repeated at the back, and fastened with satin buttons to meet the train. The long close-fit-ting sleeves were finished with a point over the hands. The veil of embroidered tulle was arranged from a coronet of tiny arum lilies. She carried a trailing sheaf of cream lilies and gladioli. Misses Monica and Doreen Smnot, cousins of the bride, attended as bridesmaids. They wore lau de nil and cyclemen stiffened net frocks respcctively, their full skirts fitting at the waistline, and trimmed with rosettes of frilled net over slips of matching taffeta frilled bolero bodices finished with taffeta sashes. Both bridesmaids wore Dolly Varden readdresses and carried trailing armlets of clover and cyclamen begonias and gladioli. Mr Russell Carlick, of Christchurch, nephew of the bridegroom was best man and Mr John Knowles, brother of the bride, was groomsman.

Following the ceremony, the reception was held at Harker’s Cabaret, where Mrs Knowles, mother of the bride received her guests. Over a navy floral frock she wore a Tahiti rose coat, with hat and accessories to tone. Her shoulder spray was of matching gladioli.

When Mr arid Mrs J. Garlick left later for their wedding tour of the suit embossed in rust, with hat and North Island, the bride wore a green shoes to tone, and carried a swagger fur coat.
