AUSTRALIAN PREMIER
Visit to New Zealand EXPECTED NEXT YEAR. SYDNEY, January 18. The “Herald’s” Melbourne correspondent says that the Assistant-Min-ister of Commerce (Senator Mcßride) will fly to New Zealand with MrJones. Mr. Mcßride will represent the Australian Government at the Centennial celebrations. He will have no defined mission from the Commonwealth Government, but will take the opportunity to discuss with the New Zealand Ministry defence and commercial problems. The New Zealand Government invited Mr. Menzies, and suggested two tentative dates for his visit, but he is unable to accept, because of pressure of business.
The “Daily Telegraph's” Melbourne correspondent says that Mr. Menzies may fly to New Zealand, this year, on a short goodwill visit. He is anxious that relations between New Zealand and Australia should be fostered- It has ; been suggested that there is a mistaken belief in New Zealand that there is a certain aloofness about Australia’s attitude toward that country. The Commonwealth will try to remove this feeling where ever it exists. On the highest authority, it is learned that Mr. Menzies is contemplating a visit to New. Zealand. It has not yet been decried whether he will go by flying-boat.
