THREAT TO SHOOT
Taihape Incident MAN BEFORE COURT. [Fez? Press Association.] TAIHAPE, January 18. A sequel to the sensational happening at Colliers’ Junction, near - Taihape, on December 27, when two shots were fired at the cottage occupied by William George Hagen, a roadman, employed by the Rangitike. County Council, and his wife, Ethel Charlotte Cordes Hagen, was heard al ,the Taihape Court to-day, when Roy Gane Waliey, drover and insurance agent, married, aged 37, of Taihape, was charged that with intent to intimidate or annoy William George Hagen and his wife, he did by night discharge a .303 rifle to alarm or attempt to alarm Hagen and his wife in their dwelling-house, Colliers’ Junction. Walley was also charged with causing to be received by Roy Alexander Hagen, of Miramar, Wellington, a letter containing threats to do gr.evous bodily harm to William George Hagen, lather of Roy Hagen. Detective-Sergeant Robertson ap- ' peared lor the police and asked for a : remand till January 26, at Taihape. ; Accused was allowed bail in his own ' recognisance of £250, and one surety ; of £250, a condition being that he stay away from the vicinity of the Hagens’ residence. > Police investigations are proceeding under the direction of Detective-Ser-geant Robertson and Detective-Ser-geant Kelly, arms expert. Wellington. Hagen was in bed at the time the shots were fired. Both bullets passed ’ through the bedroom wall, one being embedded in the stud, while the other went out in the roof.
