LAMBS HIGHER Other Lines Vary [Our Own Correspondent]. CHRISTCHURCH, January 17. Lambs sold well at to-day’s Addington market, which Messrs H. Matson and Co. review as follows: —■ Store sheep—There was a large entry of 5600, comprised mostly ol lambs. These sold particularly well at 2s 6d to 3s a head better than a week ago. Best rape lambs sold to 21s, and ewe lambs sold from Its 6d to 19s 9d. The adult entry was mostly wethers. Two lines of 503 and 60. sold from 16s to 16s 4d Fat lambs—There was an entry oJ 2100 head. The quality was fair. There was an exceptionally keen demand, the exporters paying the full schedule, with butchers’ lambs upwards of 82d per lb. Best lambs sold .to 31s 4d. , ' Fat sheep—The entry was 500 head The majority of the yarding were ewes of all classes. Wethers were in short supply, and sold at last weeks good rates in all classes. Ewes met an easier sale. Values for light Jind pla’ner sorts were back Is to Is bd a head. Heavy ewes were easier Jzy 2s to 3s a head. Prime medium eyves sold satisfactorily at a slight easing. There was a general easing as the sale concluded. Best wethers fetched 34s lOd, and best ewes 27s 4d. Fat cattle —The entry was 441, The quality was very ordinary. Good prime steers and best cows and heifers sold soundly, with values on a par to 10s a head better. Inferior and ordinary classes met a slack salej, values being back 10s to 15s a head. Extra prime heavy steers sold to £22 12s 6d, prime steers £l6 14s to £lB ss, prime medium steers £l4 15s to £l6 155,. ordinary steers £lO 15s to £l4 ss, light steers to £lO 10s; extra prime heifers to £l3 12s 6d, prime heifers.£ll 5s to £l2 10s, medium heifers £9 5s to £ll, light heifers to £9; extra prime cows to £l2 17s 6d, prime cows £9 to £ll 10s, medium cows £7 to £8 15, light cows to £6 15s. Vealers —There .was a large entry, poor in quality, there being a slight easing in all classes. Best runners sold to £7 Is.

Store cattle—There was a small entry, with a fair sale for any quality cattle offered. A pen, of 2-year-old shorthorn steers sold at £7-Ils.

Fat pigs—There was a slightly smaller entry. The qualify was very mixed. The sale was easier by Is 6d to 2s a head Unfinished classes met a good sale. Baconers wege penned in medium supply, having an erratic sale, but values were generally bn a par with last week. Light pork fetched 34s 6d to 43s 6d. medium pork 44s 6d to 47s 6d, heavy pork 48s 6d to 52s 6d, the price, per lb being 6«d to 7d. Light bacon fetched 57s 6d to £3 4s. 6d, medium bacon £3 7s 6d to £3 12s 6d, and heavy bacon £3 15s 6d to £4 8s 6d, the price being 6id to 62d per lb. Store pigs—There was a small yarding, with a good sale for all classes, especially large stores. Weaners fetched 9s to 18s 6d, slips 17s 6d to 21s 6d, and stores 22s to 375.
