MERCILESS RAIDS
BY SOVIET BOMBERS On Finnish Civilians [Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Received January 17, 5.5 p.m.) HELSINKI, January 16. The Russians again bombed the southern areas of Finland to-day. This was the fifth successive day on which these areas have been bombed by the Russians. 'in the places visited by the raiders, civilians stood for hours in the A.R.P. cellars, during the coldest day experienced for ten years. The Russian airmen mercilessly demolished the Aekenaes Hospital. They set fire to houses in Hanku and Turku. , , The raiders blew thirty people to pieces when a bomb landed on a crowded shelter trench.
