Mr A. Wilson, Wellington is visiting Greymouth.

Messrs R. Wild, Hokitika and E. V. Ellery are visiting Christchurch for the Education Board meeting.

Messrs Albert Burton and Fredrick Joseph, who are the guests of Mi' Leonard Clark, formerly of Dunedin, are on an extended holiday to the West Coast.

Guests at Revington’s Hotel include Mr and Mrs R. McDonald (Auckland), Mr F. T. Pannell, Mr and Mrs G. Smith, Mr S. J. Smith, Miss A. G. Merton, Mrs M. K. Gillies, Mr 'and Mrs Pankhurst (Christchurch).

Mr and Mrs W. J. Dobson and Misses D. and A. Dobson have returned to Greymouth after three weeks’ holiday spent in Christchurch and Wellington.

A Sydney cablegram stated that Lord and Lady Willingdon arrived by flyingboat. They were accompanied. by Viscount Errington. They will travel to New Zealand by flyingboa i.

Passengers by yesterday’s express to Christchurch included: Mrs H. Morgan, Mrs J. Brown (to Tauranga?, Mrs A. Johnston (to Dunedin), Miss D. Furness, Miss C. Minehan, Mr J. Minehan, Mr T. E. Coates, Mr J. Gilbert (Kumara) (to Wellington).

Mr W. Crawford, wharf' foreman, Railway Department, Westport, has received notice of transfer to Christchurch as passenger foreman. His place will be filled by the promotion and transfer of Mr C. Storey, of Frankton Junction.

Rt. Dr. H. W. K. Mowll, Archbishop of Sydney, will visit New Zealand shortly to preach at a service in Nelson Cathedral on February 14. immediately before the opening of the General Synod. The visit is regarded as a gesture of goodwill to the New Zealand Church in the centennial year and a tribute to its retiring Primate, Archbishop Averill. A related fact is that Bishop Hilliard, of Nelson, will leave this year to become assistant bishop in the Diocese of Sydney.

Miss Nance McKane, daughter of Mr and Mrs A. H. McKane, Cobden, has been advised thag her two years’ course at the Christchurch Training College- has been extended for a further year. Miss McKane’s third year will be taken at the Auckland Training College, where she has been selected to undergo a specialised coursein Speech Therapy. Miss McKane, who leaves on Saturday for Auckland, is a former pupil of the Greymouth Technical High School and of Miss Nellie McDonnell’s Elocution School'.

The death occurred late on Tuesday night at Greymouth of Mr Joseph Henry Butcher, a well known resident of the town. Born 77 years ago at Nelson, deceased came to the West Coast as a youth but left 28 years ago and resided in Wellington and Christchurch. He returned to Greymouth six years ago, being employed as a waterside worker. He had suffered a lengthy illness. His wife predeceased him six years ago and he is survived by one daughter. Mrs G. Friend, of Cobden. He also leaves three brothers, Jack (Christchurch), Edward (Reefton) and George (Auckland) and five sisters, Mesdames J. Davies (Wellington), P. Haddock (Horopito), A. Hibbs (Christchurch), J. Ritson (Otaki) and F. Fell (Palmerston' North). The funeral will take place this afternoon, leaving Holy Trinity Church.
