BEAU VITE FANCIED Opening Day at Trentham THE FIELDS AND PROSPECTS Trentham will to-day be the meccas of sporting enthusiasts from all parts of New Zealand, when the> Ceiuen= nial Wellington Cup will be decided. A large field, already reviewed m these columns, is set down to contest the event, and it should be a great race home, with the likelihood of Beau Vite, Old Bill, Centrepoise, Fils de Vaals, Gladynev, Mona’s Song, Norseman, Malagigi taking a promin- ■ ent part in the finish. There a doubt in some quarters about Amigb going to the post in the other rich event, the Telegraph Handicap, of £lOOO, which, like the Centennial Cup, i £3,200, is one of the richest prizes offered so far in the Dominion. However, should Amigo be produced, he will have many friends. In the absence of Amigo, the vote is for Bronwen, with Arvakur, Rakahanga, Black Thread and Spanish Lad likely to be in the firing line.
