PLUCKY LIFE-SAVER
FIGHTS OFF SHARK BRISBANE, January 16. Remarkable fortitude was shown by Douglas Bright, twenty-two, one of the State’s leading lifesavers, when he was attacked by a shark at Southport. Fighting off the shark alone, he called to three* companions to keep together, then swam nearly two hundred yards unaided to the shore, leaving a trail of blood. He was admitted to the hospital in a serious condition, with two large gashes in the chest and stomach.
