BRUNNER NOTES
I Our Own Coirespondbntl Mr and Mrs Sheppherd who have been visiting Mr and Mrs T. Walker Dobson, left on Saturday morning on return to Christchurch. Mrs I. Greigg and family, Wellington who has been visiting her sifters at Taylorville left on Saturday morning on return. Captain Hodge, Brunner S.A. Corps has received notice of her transfer to Matanrtata, North Island, and leaves this week to take up her her new position. Mrs E. W. Hill, Christchurch, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs C. Finley, North Brunner, left on Saturday on return. Mrs E. Gould, Rakaia, who has been visiting her sister Mrs J. Rutherford, Dobson, left on Saturday morning on return. Miss Una Richardson left on Saturday on return to Wellington. Lieutenant Hatch, Brunner S.A. Corps has been promoted to Captain. Over forty friends were present at the home of Mr and Mrs W. Coates Taylorville on Thursday evening, tc farewell the two recruits, Messrs W. Earl and A. Tikey, of Taylorville, who left on Friday morning with the West Coast draft for the Seconq Echelon of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force. Musical items were contributed and community singing and a sumptuous supper served. Several presentations were made and all joined in extending their best wishes for a safe return and hoped the war would be over before they got to the firing line. They were farewelled by a large number of friends at the Brunner Railway Station on Friday morning. _______
