REEFTON NOTES

[Our Own Correspondent], REEFTON, January 4. Mr. Justice O’Regan is at present in'the district, spending his annual leave with his son at Inangahua Landing, Mr. P. J. O’Regan. Mr. W. Burnett; Jnr., has secured an appointment at the State Collieries, and left by last evening’s train to take up his new position. He was accompanied by Mrs. Burnett and child. The following members of the Boys’ Brigade left this morning en route to the camp at Waikanae, under the charge of Captain J. Julian: — Sergt. J. Heslop, Corporals I. Dutt and R. Dowe, Lance-Corporals G. Allen and J. Hunt, Privates A. Barnett, T. Gilmour, K. Busch, R. Absalom, P. Porter, R. Bartlett, R- Griffen,' ana A. Wills.

Mrs E. H. Scott, of Christchurch, a former resident of Reef ton, who nas been on a visit to her daughter in Westport, returned to Christchurch to-day by the Lewis Pass car. Mr. D. McGinley, of Parnassus, a native of this district, is at present on a visit, and renewing old friendships. Mrs. Baucke and daughter,- of Wellington, who were at one time well-known residents of Merrijlgs, paid a visit to Reefton to-day, en route home from the South Westland glaciers. The death took place at Huntly yesterday of Mrs. Elizabeth Henderson, wife of Mr. William Henderson, oi 31, Bellvue Avenue, Papanui, formerly well known in Reefton. The ' deceased lady was on a visit to her daughter at Huntly, where she passed away after a very short illness. Mrs. Henderson was a native of Nelson,,? daughter of the late John Moonlight, and 73 years of age. In her younger!

days she was a noted horsewoman. She is survived by her husband and two daughters, her son being killed in the Great War.
