WELLINGTON, January 4. The New Zealand Chess Congress finished to-night', the championship being won for the sixth time, by J. B. Dunlop (Otago). His score was nine and a half points, out of a possible of 13. He won seven games, drew five and lost on. A. W. Gyles (Wellington) and I. Burry (Auckland) were the runners up, each scoring nine points. Next came R. O. Scott (Wanganui) with 8 points. Other scores were: P. Allerhand (Wellington) 7J. K. Byer (Wellington) 7i D. I. Jones (Auckland) 7, H. McNabb (Nelson) 7; R. C. Wade (Wellington) 61; E. H. Severne (Wellington) 51: D. Lynch (Hastings) 5; Dr. C. Bennett (Otago) 41; F. Vincent (Wellington) 4; F. K. Kelling (Wellington) 1. In the premier reserves R, A. Durham (Wellington) and W. J. Fairburn (Wellington) tied for first place with\ nine points. Next came J'. D. Steele (Wellington) 81 points, R. G.
