GREYMOUTH OLD BOYS

MEETING AT WELLINGTON. The annual meeting of the Greymouth Old Boys’ Association, Wellington, at. the Marist Bros.’‘Old Boys’ Association’s rooms, and presided over ry the President (Mr. Phil Skoglund), was fairly attended. The annual report stated that the Association now had approximately sixty members, and made reference to the various social activities. The old executive were re-elected, the chief positions being occupied by Messrs P. Skoglund, President; Ber: Warnes, Vice-President; H. Bowman, Hon. Treasurer; and C. C. Kilgour Hen. Secretary. Appreciation was expressed of the work of the President.

Mr. Skoglund referred to the suggestion made of opening the membership lists to embrace ex-residents of all parts of the West Coast—not the Grey district alone—stating that hi personally favoured retaining the present status, as he believed that, although the West Coast Association had gone into retirement, its officers were still recognised, and it might be advisable to allow any move for amalgamation to come from them. Over one hundred ex-West Coas< residents gathered at the Association rooms, to hear a talk by Mr. D. J. Evans (Hokitika), on the part the West Coast is playing in the Centennial Exhibition.

The chief object of Mr. Evans's visit was to have a women’s committee set up which would act as receptionists when the Exhibition is opened.

Over forty- names were handed in, | headed by those of Mesdames M. Hay J. Knox-Gilmer, daughter'bf the late Rt. Hon. R, J. Seddon, Messrs Skog, lund (charman of the gathering), and I’. E. Y. Seddon expressed thanks on behalf of those present to Mr. Evans for the entertaining hour he had provided.
