GREEK CHARGED. ENTRY TO N.Z. WITHOUT PERMIT. WELLINGTON, September 20. Stated by counsel to have been a member of the crew of thd steamer torpedoed off the coast of Spain, and a prisoner for several months before h's arrival in New Zealand, Vassilios Tripanagnostropoulos (correct name), pleaded guilty to entering New Zealand on May 20 without a permit. His case was remanded for a month. An indication was given by counsel that further efforts would be made to ■obtain a permit to remain,. FALSE PRETENCES. ' WELLINGTON. September 20. Arnold Nicholson already on licence as the result of previous offences of ■ the same nature, was to-day given sentences in the Magistiate’s Court totalling 15 months' hard labour for false pretences, there being five charges, involving £l5. He was stat- ■ ed to have made a speciality of defrauding stock firms and agents.
