GOLF

WELLINGTON, September 20. Though it-has cancelled the special Centennial tournaments in October and November, at Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington, the New Zealand Golf Council has decided that the ordinary annual New Zealand open and amateur championship events will take place: This is in-ac-cordance with the Government's expressed wish in regard to the continuance- of normal games and sports events.

The venue is Miramar, Wellington, and the dates November 9 to 17. Tile programme, already issued, applies except as to the prize money,, the total amount of which will be £4OO, which is more than has been provided previously, but the amount was increased owing to the - expected abandonment of the professionals’ tournament, usually held in February.
