It is officially stated that nothing happened in the past 48 hours, to change the position on the Western front. The French are consolidating their positions, but pill-boxes and concrete trenches limit their advance. The 'Xir Force continues its reconnaissance, the pilots showing skill and courage in eluding the German GERMAN ATTACK IN 1 HURLED BACK BY FU NC-H. PARIS, SepUn-e- 19. A restricted enemy attack occurred during the night in the region east o the Saar front. The attack was repulsed‘ LATER. The French hurled back the German attack east of the Bfies PP tivelv the German troops ineffectively striking under cover of a heavy art lery barrage.
New German Move 9* TROOPS MASSING. IN FRONT OF BELGIUM. NEW YORK, September 19. The United Press London correspondent says that Britain and France are concerned regarding reports of German military activity near the Belgian and Netherlands frontiers. German civilians are evacuating the Aachen district, which is in a direct line with Liege, Germany’s route in the 1914 invasion of Belgium; also a portion of the Germans being recalled Irom Poland are concentrated within •“striking distance” of the Belgian and Netherlands frontiers.

TWO GERMAN ATTACKS REPULSED BY FRENCH. (Received Sept. 21, 1 a.m.) (Independent Cable) LONDON, September 20. a new German attack was beaten off on the Western Front yesterday. A French communique says: There wnii a local enemy attack east of BJJes. It was repulsed. There was enemy aviation activity in the same German attack withered •when it was faced with heavy French machine-gun and anti-tank gun ftre, supported by a heavy artillery barrage.
