THE WEATHER

[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 10. The weather report and forecast are as follows:—General situation: Pressure remains high to the north; the northern extension of a depression centred to the south-east lies across the South Island; another- depression over Tasmania is moving rapidly eastward. Forecast: Winds strong and squally north-westerly winds at first in the central districts, but decreasing to-morrow; otherwise moderate southwesterly to north-westerly predominating. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough in Cook Strait, but decreasing to-morrow; moderate to rather rougn on parts of the West Coast; elsewhere slight. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh winds between north-west and south-west, and moderate seas. Weather: A few showers probable in most districts but otherwise mainly fair to cloudy; conditions becoming unsettled during to-morrow however, in the western areas of the Sonin Island. Temperatures moderate in the north, and cool in the south with sonic frosts to-night.
