CHINESE RELIEF FUND
The Greymouth Left Book Club, in acknowledging further donations, received for the above fund, wish to advise the people of Greymouth and surrounding districts, that the fund will definitely close at the end of this week. To the misery and horror of war, already suffered by the Chinese people, has now to be added more suffering and death from widespread and disastrous floods. Surely, the people of New Zealand are extraordinarily fortunate to be living so tar away from the turmoil and madness of the old world, living here in peace and quietness. Is this not worth just a small sacrifice, a shilling, two shillings, or half a crown to help some of our more unfortunate brothers and sisters? To all those who can and have not yet given, we ask “Will you help them in the coming week?” Any of the Chinese tradesmen in Greymouth will gladly accept donations, also Messrs R. Bunt and J. Scott, Joint Secretaries of the Fund. Donations received by post will be promptly acknowledged, and together with local donations will be later acknowledged in the Press: — Per Mr. Percy Wah, Grey Valley Deputies and Underviewers’ Union, £2; D.
