The brown horse Tempest, the most fancied candidate for the Caulfield Cup, was badly injured by a motor truck while proceeding to the training track early to-day, and was later destrojrgd. The rider was thrown and his leg and ribs were broken. Tempest was by Windbag from Solar Star and was valued at five thousand guineas. The horse was owned by Mr. F. G. Scarfe.
