HOSPITAL VISITORS
AUCKLAND COMPLAINT AUCKLAND, August 28. Difficulty in controlling visitors to the boys’ ward in the Princess Mary block at the Auckland Hospital was described by the medical superintendent (Dr. J. W. Craven) in a report to the Auckland Hospital Board. The difficulty, he said, was increasing. “In spite of notices drawing attention taLthe number allowed at one time at a bed side, and prohibiting the giving of parcels to patients, 1 ’ said Dr. Craven, “both offences are on the increase. The sister informs me that she is having to put up with increasing rudeness from some of the visitors.” Dr. Craven recommended that the relatives of all; patients in the Princess Mary block be given two passes, to be transferable, to allow persons selected by the parents to visit the parents after they themselves had left the building. The passes would be collected by the sister when the patient was discharged. He also recommended that an orderly be sta- j tioned at the entrance, and that only i those with passes be allowed inside the building, and that the scheme be] given a trial for three months, and be rigorously enforced.
