MR SAVAGE RECOVERS

Walks from Hospital WELLINGTON. August 26. Looking remarkably well alter bis stay in hospital, the Prime Minister (Mr M. J. Savagei, left Lewisham today for his home in Northland. He was accompanied by the Speaker ol the Legislative Council (the Hon. Mark Fagan). and the Minister of Mines (Hon. P. C. Webb). Before leaving. Mr Savage said goodbye to those who had looked alter him and also to souk 1 of the patients. He walked out to the waiting car in high spirits and. just as the car was leaving, he suddenly remembered he had forgotten to thank one of the Sisters who looked after him. He stopped the car and walked back Io the hospital and remedied the omission. On arrival al his home in Northland. he walked up the step to the front door without difficulty and immediately sat down to his morning cup of broth when he went inside. Mr Savage was a patient at the hospital for a little more than three weeks. He underwent an operation on August 4. and it is not likely that he will resume his official duties in the House this session. Yesterday the Governor-General (Lord Galway), visited Mr Savage in hospital. Mr Webb, who was a patient in the same hospital for eye trouble. left yesterday. lie expects to be completely recovered in a few days, though fie still wears dark glasses.
