MOTOR CYCLIST STRIKES CAR. AUCKLAND, August 27. When motor-cycling on Saturday, afternoon along Great North Road, Peter Bradford Grant, a single man,' aged 23 years, residing at. Mount' Eden, and employed as a -plumber’s' labourer collided with a sedan motor-, car, and’ suffered head injuries, which subsequently proved fatal. The motorcar was driven by Ernest Edward Neumegan, and it also contained his wife and son. It was being turned round when it was struck by,the mo-1 tor-cycle, coming up from the rear. The force of the impact was such thatu both the doors were forced in. j
WOMAN IN HARBOUR. ' RESCUED, BUT IN VAIN. AUCKLAND, August 27. Found floating in the water alongside steps of Queen’s Wharf on Saturday, Mrs. Rose Hannah Ninnes, aged ,74, of Newton, was rescued by two men, and rushed to Auckland Hospital, where resuscitation methods, already begun on the wharf, brought her to consciousness. However, on Saturday night she suffered a collapse, from which she did not recover, and she died. An inquest was opened and adjourned. A craneman, S. Webb, told the police, that, as he was alighting froml a crane on the wharf, he noticed what] appeared to be a bundle floating o:4 the water. With another man, h« secured it. ■
