The Hawke’s Bay 'Jockey Club’s meeting opened in brilliant weather. The attendance was good, and the track was fast. The totalisator handled £11,498, compared with £11,720 10s last year, a decrease of £222 10s. Results:—

RIVERSLEA HURDLES.—2 SMALL BOY (A. Lord) 1; 1 Hanover (McDowell) 2. Also started: 3 Sir Nigel (pulled up), 4 Parry (fell). Won by three-quarters of a length. Time 2.48 1-5.
