BRUNNER NOTES

[Our Own Correspondent] Mrs C. Gutberlet (Hokitika) who has been visiting relatives in Taylorville, has returned home. Mr O. Buckman (Taylorville) left on Saturday for Auckland on holiday. Mr and Mrs H. Griffiths (Wallsend) left yesterday for Auckland and New Plymouth, to spend a month’s holiday. Mr T. Morgan, senr., has left for New Plymouth to attend the annual conference of the Druid’s Lodge. On Sunday last, m beautiful Weather, a bus load of picnickers from Taylorville visited Lake Kanieri, where an enjoyable day was spent in swimming, games, community singing, etc., Mr O. Tikey supplying the music on his piano-accordeon. Those who made the journey were: Mr and Mrs E. Dando, Mrs Morgan, Mrs Myers, Mr and Mrs S. Bell, Misses Joan and Jean Dando, Dulcie Kirk, A. Mclntosh, Sylvia Dando, Messrs O. Black, J. Egan, A. Tickey, W. Kerr, G. Jones, J. and T. Morgan, D. Graham, R. Russell, R. Myers, Dando (6).

At the monthly meeting of the Taylorville School Committee there were present: Messrs T. W. Morgan, (Chairman) L. Dando, R. R. Smith, F. Slater, P. Moore, and the Headmaster, Mr A. E. Mahon. The Headmaster reported that the roll was 96 and the average attendance for the month was 92. During the fine weather in February instruction in swimming and life-savipg had been given to the children. The school had been represented at the West Coast primary school sports meeting at Greymouth on March 3. The garden competition had been less successful than had been honed on account of the wet season, but it was intended to make this an annual event an* better results were expected in the fu ture. Several small accounts were passed for payment.
