The Kaiwarra is in port loading bunker coal, and sails to-night for Stenc.ouse Bay, if weather conditions permit. ..I The Kaimai is expected from Auckland • during the week-end, loading early next, week for return to Auckland.

Personal: Mr and Mrs Archer, Reefton, have arrived to take up their residence at Westport, where Mr Archer has joined the staff of Gibbs Motors. Mrs Rees, Mill Street, arrived home to-day from a visit to Wellington, accompanied by her daughter, Mrs Roberts, and grandson. Mr Blyde, Dominion Vice-President of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, will visit Westport next week, and will address members of the local branch. Mr A. W. Wilson, of Christchurch, who has been holidaying with relatives at Westport, left to-day on return. Mr R. Betts, who attended the dinner given to Lord Nuffield by Sir Charles Norwood at Wellington, returned to Westport on Friday. The death occurred at Christchurch recently of Mrs McMaster, wife of Mr Frank McMaster, of Sydney, and formerly of Westport. Mr and Mrs L. W. Crowe leave today for Auckland, where they will in future reside. A member of the staff of the dredge Maui, Mr Crowe was met yesterday afternoon by the crew, and Captain Knox, acting-Harbour-master, made a presentation to him on behalf of those present. Mr Crowe takes up a position with the Auckland Plarbour Board.

Gold Return: The Addison’s Gold Mining Company’s return for the period ending Wednesday, March 1, was 23 ounces 5 dwts for 35 shifts.

Horse Transport: Mr J. Radford, secretary of the Westport Jockey Club, has made arrangements with Gibbs Transport to convey horses attending the race meeting on April 1 and 3, from Inangahua Junction to Westport. With three floats, with accommodation for 14 horses available, and the ability of making a number of trips during a day, owners are assured of receiving good service between railhead and Westport.

Rugby League: Mr T. F. McKenzie, organising secretary of the Inangahua Rugby League, paid a visit to Denniston last evening and addressed a good meeting of players and supporters. The meeting was on the same lines as conducted in other parts of the district, and Mr McKenzie was thanked for his visit. Prospects for the code at Denniston are bright, as a senior and junior team are assured, with possibility of a further junior team. Mr McKenzie denies that overtures have been made to Buller Rugby Union players to transfer their allegiance to Rugby League with a view to inclusion in the team to leave this year on a tour of the Old Country. He says nothing of the kind has happened, so far as he is concerned, and he is the League’s organiser and representative in this district.
