FIRE BRIGADES

“Demo” Results

[Per Press Association.! WANGANUI, March 10.

Good progress was maintained today with the bi-ennial fire fighting demonstrations of the United Fire Brigades’ Association at Cook’s Gardens. Four events were completed on Wednesday, and three to-day, the start being made with the seventh event this afternoon.

Carterton Brigade, so far, has enjoyed the most success in the competitions with two firsts, two seconds and a third.

Petone Brigade, who won the biggest share of the prize money at the last demonstrations at Nelson, two years ago, has also done well, and fills second place with one first, two seconds and a third.

Hokitkia and Dannevirke Brigades have also secured first places.' Carterton, at present, is leading in the championship competition and in the two shield events. Results: —
