ST. PATRICK'S DAY

SPORTS, CONCERT AND BALL. Entries close to-night for St. Patrick’s Sports, liking place next Saturday at Victoria Park. A. large number of nominations have already Deen received. The Committee have this year included chopping in the programme, which will add considerably to its interest, while the cycling, footracing and field events will provide an excellent day’s sport. Special features will be the 3 mile N.Z. Cycle Championship, and a motor-paced match between D. Moreland (Grey; mouth) and J. Wilmott (Timaru). School competitions and relays, and National Dancing and a Baby Show will add to the attractiveness of the programme. There will, as usual, be a booth, tea-rooms, sweets stalls, and side shows on the grounds, and patrons will be well catered for. The procession, which precedes the sports, will comprise a number of interesting decorated exhibits and promises to be even more spectacular than last year. For the Irish National Concert the organisers are arranging an excellent programme, fully up to the high dard of previous years, while the customary ball at Schaef’s Hall is sure to attract as great a gathering as in former years.
