TECHNICAL SCHOOL
EVENING CLASSES. Evening classes in connection with the Greymouth Technical College began last evening. Commenting on the enrolments received so far, the Principal said yesterday that in general the numbers were 'quite up to the usual standard, in fact in several of the Trades and Commercial Classes considerable increases had occurred. Less satisfactory was the small enrolment received to date for the classes in the Examination and Matriculation Course. These classes, founded anew in 1937, had had a very considerable measure of success in the Public Service, School Certificate and Matriculation Examinations, and their discontinuance, which would certainly be necessaiy unless the enrolments increased considerably, would represent a distinct loss to the evening school and to the community. Another point for consideration was that, once such a course of classes lapsed, it was difficult to get it going again, owing to the relatively high number per class required by regulations for such classes. It would therefore be necessary for those students interested in the continuance of these classes to make their enrolments without delay.
