LINER SINKS

AFTER COLLISION. NEARLY PULLS TUG DOWN. [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.)] NEW YORK, February 27. A coastguard cutter reported that she was taking the Lillian’s crew from the Wiegand, leading to the presumption that the captain had decided to return to the Lillian, which was still afloat at- 7 a.m. . The Lillian, from Puerto Rico, rammed the Lloyd liner Weigand 10 miles off the New Jersey coast, 70 miles south of New York. The Lillian’s crew of 32 took to lifeboats, and all were picked up safely by the Wiegand. (Received February 28, 8.25 p.m.) NEW YORK, February 27.

The "Lillian” sank this afternoon. In doing so she almost pulled down with her the tug which had just got a line aboard. The “Lillian’s” crew are aboard a coastguard cutter.
