EMPIRE LABOUR PARTY

CONFERENCE IN NEW ZEALAND LONDON, December 21. "The possibility of an Empire Labour Conference in New Zealand is being discussed in Dominion circles,” it is stated by Reynold's News. “It is suggested that the conference should be held in 1940 during the New Zealand centenary celebrations. The chief purpose of the gathering would be to knot the views of the Empire and British Labour parties into one common political pattern. Possibly, a joint policy on foreign affairs would be formulated. It is admitted by the British Lanour Party that the suggestion of such a conference has been made to Labour parties in the Dominions. The idea, it is emphasised, has been mooted only, and no official announcement will be made, at least until replies from the Dominions are received.
