DRUNKEN DRIVER GAOLED. WELLINGTON, December 12. Magnus William Thompson, farmer, was sentenced to .14 days’ imprisonment for intoxication when in charge of a car. His license was cancelled, and he was prohibited from getting another for nine months. SERIOUS ASSAULT CHARGE. DUNEDIN, December 12. Stating that the assaulted man was in a very serious condition, and his life was endangered. Chief-Detective Holmes asked for a remand in the case wherein Eva Dickson, 30, was charged at the Police Court, with having assaulted her husband, William Dickson, so as to cause actual bodily harm. ■ - The man is alleged to have been struck over the head with an axe, the assault being committed early this morning. Accused was remanded, bail being refused.
