RECORD RAINFALL

In Samoa [Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Received December 4, 6.30 p.m.) APIA, December 2. A heavy rainfall of thirty-three and one-third inches, the biggest on record for the month of November, was experienced here. Advices from Savaii report that the village of Avao, on the north coast, was washed out, and the natives were forced to seek shelter at other villages. Earl and Countess Beatty and party, who were four days out on a trip around Savaii, were held up by floods and weather conditions.
