Pleasure at the achievements of the Country Library Service to date, and at the increasing response forthcoming from smaller towns and country districts where the service is operating was expressed' by Hon. P. Fraser m an interview to-day. The Minister said the Service now owned eighteen thousand volumes, most o/ which wer« at present in use in various parts of the Dominion. After outlining the wdrk of the Service, the Minister said that, up to the present, it had been concerned only with providing for the needs of adulfs, but it was intended, as early as possible to provide similar facilities for "juvenile readers.
