WAIKATO TROTS

BEXLEY GIRL FANCIED. The win and place system of betting will operate at the Waikato Trotting - Club’s meeting at the Claudelands Course. Large fields are engaged! and surprises may be in store in thej way of dividends. I Nineteen smart sprinters, one ot ( whom is Navy Blue, who won at the; recent Auckland and Wellington' meetings, remain in the Stewards’ Handicap, while the largest field goes to the credit of novice straight-out trotters, no fewer than 27 surviving the acceptance. There is all the material in this programme for fine sport, and the Waikato Club is entitled to look forward with equilibrium to the result of the fixtures. The only defection from the Waikato Handicap is Tangatu, who was on the limit. His connections have indicated a preference for the shorter Stewards’ Handicap, but there he will meet with tough opposition and will have to improve considerably on the form he revealed last season to

have a chance. It is true that he had only three starts then, but he failed to finish in a place in any one of them. Of the six horses now on the limit, Glorietta, Our War and Musketeer have recent form to commend them, all three running into places at Auckland last month. Musketeer finished second to Civic in the Insulation Handicap, Our War ran third to Kewpie’s King and Sandusky fh the Labour Day Handicap, and Glorietta occupied third place in a second-class race on each day of the meeting. Our War is likely to command more respect from the betting public than either of the other two, but there is another pacer on the front line, Policy, who impressed by her running in the Labour Day Handicap, even though she was out of a place at the finish. She was fourth, and the run would improve her. Sandusky, on 12 yds., is a hardy customer, and rarely runs a bad race. He is very fit at present and is bound to give a good account of himself. From the point of view of speculators, he is sure to be in great favour if Bexley Girl is started and makes a bracket. Her form at the Addington carfiival was impressive. The Bexley Giri-Sandusky bracket and Policy and Glorietta, should be most in demand. The fields and prospects are:—
