MONTHLY MEETING. In the absence of the chairman (Cr. J. W. ‘Hannan), Cr. J. Ryall was voted to the chair at the monthly meeting of the Grey County Council last evening, when there were also present: —Crs J. Mulcare, H. G. Carter, A. McDonnell, A. Robinson, W. Fisher and G. Blair. _ „ Accounts totalling £2804 Ils 6d were passed for payment. The Treasurer’s statement of ceipts for the period to November’ 30 was as follows: —Rates £2406 6s 6d, Vehicle licenses £2169 6s 10d; Sundry ,licenses £4OO 4s 3d; Royalties and rents £5 10s; Sales etc. £254 11s 7d-, Refunds compensations etc. £202 19s 6d; Main highways £2502 19s 8d; Government grants £2382 10s lOd; and Thirds £‘s7o Is; Fifths and Tenths £1723 5s lid; Half rents £72.5 S 6d; No. 5 arid 13 schemes £3769 0s Id; Goldfields £3026 5s 3d; Deposits £141; Sundry Revenue (1020. 10s 4d; Total £20,647 0s 3d. The Public Works Department forwarded the fallowing authorities: Bray Creek Bridge additions, £4OO (£2 for £1); Homestead Creek Bridge £233 (£2 for £1); Souter’s Creek Bridge £867 (£3 for £1). The West Coast A. and P. Association'was granted £5 towards its Special "Prize'Fund for the annual show. T. ‘H. Chinn, Dunganviller was granted permission to erect a hut on the mill side oi the Dunganville road, near Saltwatf ? * Creek, bridge. Frank Griffen, Ahaura wrote statI ing that he could not purchase the electrac tractor as he and his partner had dissolved partnership. It was decided to co-operate with the Minister of Internal Affairs in his request for the setting up of a district committee under the Physical I Welfare and Recreation Act 1937. Mulcare said that the Inspectors intended to enforce the Act and prosecute farmers who did not attempt to remove the ragwort from their properties. The chairman said that the council’s sUb-committee had power to take action and deal with cases of indigent farmers. Permission to lay a tramway across the Greehsfone-’CSTte Brunner Road was granted to the Greenstone Sawmilling Co., subject to the usual conditions.
